Passion projects

In passion projects, we have been making a virtual reality sandbox. Throughout the past weeks, we have been planning, construct and coding this sandbox hoping to get it made. In the first week, we sorted into groups and groups inside those groups and started to plan our sandbox. We needed to research what the sandbox looked like and how they would be made. In the second week, we had made the plans but needed to add dimensions and get a material list sent into the teachers so we could receive our materials. In week three we had our technology group coding the projector and our builders working on the sandbox and the last week was dedicated to finishing it off and presenting. The experience as a whole was pretty good the digital world project was annoying because our group consisted of mostly year 7,8, and 9s and most of them did not work. I chose this passion project because I thought it sounded fun but next time I would choose a more hands-on artsy project.

It was fun to make I liked it I think it was a good idea I don't know what else to say. I think next time I would get my friends to help her more and do something about the DLO going weird.

Our group worked well together we are all contributing and doing the work and we are getting lots of the Rubrics done. Rosa made the poster and wrote the words, Alicia drew the pictures and traced the words while Djarn and I were doing the blog post and researching. From this, we have learned the basic features of a map and how to read them.

Science blow carts

In science, we are learning about forces and friction so we made blow carts to see who could go the furthest our cart is called the Fire Pheonix 283 The original. Our main idea was to have our cart being pulled by a parachute that will be tapped to the front of our cart when we tested it worked well and went far. So we made a few modifications like making the sail cardboard and making the sail more sturdy so we are ready to see how it goes. Here are some photos of our final design. We made our cart with a wood base, Tape, String, Cardboard, and Wheels. Unbalanced force means something will move in a certain direction because there is more force it that direction and balanced mean something will not move because all the forces are balanced in all directions. Our team worked well because we made a plan and communicated with each other.

Reflection
I found this experience horrible because half my group was doing nothing leaving me and Rosa to do all the work which really annoyed me. If I had a better group I probably would have enjoyed it more.
I enjoyed solving the problem and I like the idea to crass a fava bean with a watermelon.

I woke up to the sound of Chris screaming I get and grab the rifle it is the invaders and they had Chris and they were coming for us I woke up the rest of the group and told Robyn to get Lee out of there I aimed at them being prepared to have to do what I have to to keep my friends safe. They saw Lee and Robyn and started to fire so I prayed I wouldn't miss and fired I get the first one in the chest but the second one started to fire in my direction. I was out of ammo so I had to make a choice Surrender or get killed I decided I would rather be alive than dead so I put up my hands and slowly walked to the invader.

Tomorrow when the war began chapter 13

1.Teenagers cant sleep all day. Ellie doesn't see herself as a normal teenager because she has to be cautious and be a leader and kill people.
2. Ellies dad id cooking for the whole town because they are all gone, Father Cronin ignored her greeting because of all the things she has done, Corrie was 8 years old because Ellie misses being a child, they were sailing off in a boat because they are starting their new lives and Lee was undressing because Ellie has feelings for Lee.
3. It is so terrible that Chris fell asleep because he is watching out for danger and if he is asleep he is risking the lives of all of his friends. Ellie reacts by yelling and kicking Chris, She reacts this way because she wants to keep her friends safe, Ellies is shocked that she reacted this way and regrets it.
4. Ellie is dreaming of her fears because she is in hell safe so her fears can catch up with her.

I math we are taking a new approach to learning where we have to take a learning objective, learn about it and the do an activity to show that we have learned about it.

Our learning objective is to identify classes of two- and three-dimensional shapes by their geometric properties.

We needed to know what logic smart is and how to show what we learned in that way.

We shared our learning by playing math games related to 3d objects and the properties of the shapes.

1. Because It is dangerous and they will be killed if they are spotted. He tells her that it isn't safe where they are.
2. They check every corner before going around to make sure they won't be spotted and they slow down before they get to town.

I think it will work because the dozer can take some hits and then they can get away fast in a car.

CARR Licenses

1. The CARR licenses are a system with different levels and different rewards for each level. You achieve each level by having good behavior the better the behavior the higher the level.
2. We are doing this to improve behavior in our class because we will all be trying for green.
3. I place myself as a yellow but I will be trying my hardest to get a green.
4. I will improve the amount of work the grade of work and how I do my work to hopefully get to the green level.

English assessment

In English, we had to write an essay on the film The Power of One we had to write about a specific scene here is what I wrote.

In the movie The Power of One directed by John Avildsen, there is a scene where the main character P.K is bullied by Africana kids in a boarding school. The film techniques that give this scene a big impact on the audience are low key lighting, close up shots and low angle shot. In the scene, low key lighting is used to give the scene a scary feel. The room where the scene takes place is dimly lit with adds a scary feel. The director did this to add tension and make the audience feel scared and worried for P.K as he is brought into the room. This technique show use that this will not be a positive scene but one that will end badly for P.K. This scene can be compared to the scene later on in the movie where Jappie is trying to kill P.K

Which is also dimly lit. Close up shots were used a lot in this scene to show the emotions of the characters especially P.Ks. During the scene, the director shows a close up of P.Ks face which shows that P.K is scared and worried. The director used close-ups to make the audience feel scared and worried for P.K. This gives the scene more of an impact on the audience by making them feel scared for P.K. This can be compared to when close-ups were used to show P.Ks emotions before he was sent to boarding school. In the scene, the director used a low angle shot to show superiority. The director used a low angle shot in this scene to show that Jaapie Botha's power over P.K and that he is superior. The director used this shot to show that Jaapie is superior and that he thinks he is better than everyone else than P.K which helps the audience understand the situation. This makes the audience feel frightened for a P.K because Jaapie thinks he is better than everyone else. This can be compared to the scene were Sargent Bormann orders, Geel Piet, to eat shit Because it is showing that Sargent Bormann is superior. In conclusion this scene from the film The Power of One the film techniques used enhance the feel and effect of this scene.

Home EC reflection 31/05/2018

The focus of the meals we are cooking are to make them healthy and filling for your family.  We can do this by swapping unhealthy ingredients with healthy ingredients.  These are the changes we made yesterday we used yesterday:

Swap with 1 tablespoon of canola oil or margarine

Swap for learning mince Eg: premium or prime 

Reduce to 1/4 tsp iodized salt 

Reduce - Use tomatoes with no added salt or fresh tomatoes 

Reduce by half due to salt content Add vegetables such as grated carrot and peppers for fiber and nutrients 

Can use wholemeal pasta for increase fiber Check- using a non-stick pan 

Flavor - add fresh tomatoes and herbs for flavor boost instead of salt

I would also add peas, more meat and double the amount of food.

Hey, guys, it is Caleb back here again with another post where my friends and I are developing an app for people getting into gaming which was my idea which we all built upon and turned it into a reality.

The way we came up with this idea is from using a program called padlet which we all posted ideas and then voted on who's we should do. In the end, it was the idea of an app to help people get into gaming that we decided to build upon.

Reflection

 I learned how to code an app and how to run a group as a leader. My work shows this because I did all of the work on the app and it is coded rather well. I have taken away the fact that running a group is hard but if you are persistent. you can lead your group well. I feel like not everyone did enough work and contributed enough which made me angry because I was doing a lot of work on the app. I coded and designed the app, Rosa did the research and made the padlet and stuff, Casey and Nivvy did pretty much nothing. We managed changes and disagreements by holding votes and choosing the winning idea. After all of this, we have completed our app to the best of our abilities. We made a lot of changes to our final design but I am happy with what we have made.

In the two shot of Geel Piet and Sargent Borman, the director uses facial expressions.	For example, Geel Piet's face shows fear and Sargent Bormans face shows anger. We get the same feeling of being worried when Sargent Borman is confronting Geel Piet earlier on in the film.

S: The director uses a long shot to show sergeant Borman looking at Geel Piet.

E: For example, in the long shot we see sergeant Borman is being suspicious because he has his baton by his side so you get the feeling that Geel Piet is going to be in trouble.

X: The director does this because it shows us that the sergeant knows something is off and thinks it is
because of Geel Piet.

X: The effect on the audience is that they feel a sense of danger for Geel Piet because they know he has done something wrong and that he will be in trouble and the audience doesn’t want him to be in trouble.

Y: We get the same feeling of danger when Geel Piet is telling sergeant Borman what the song means
before he dies.

All-in-one Tasty Pasta

 Serves: 4  10 mins prep time  20 mins Cook time

Get a tasty meal on the table the whole family will love in less than 30 minutes. Even better it’s all cooked in one pan, so fewer dishes to do!

Ingredients

• 300g lean beef mince
• 1/2 onion, peeled and chopped
• 3-4 button mushrooms, sliced (optional)
• 420g can Wattie's Tomato and Garlic Pasta Sauce
• 1 ½ can water or beef stock (add as needed)
• 2 cups small pasta spirals
• 1 ½ cups Wattie's frozen Mixed Vegetables
• Chopped parsley (optional)

Method

1. Heat a dash of oil in a large frying pan and quickly brown minced beef and onion over a moderately high heat. This may be best done in two batches.
2. Add the mushrooms if using, Wattie’s Tomato and Garlic Pasta Sauce, water or stock and pasta and stir until the mixture comes to the boil. Cover, lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes until the mince and pasta are tender.
3. Stir in the Wattie’s frozen Mixed Vegetables and simmer gently for only 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are hot. Season to taste and add a handful of chopped parsley if wished.

This term in health our assignment was to make a form of promotional material for health promotion I made a poster on Canva which I think is very creative and I like it . Here is a picture for you. It has information and tips on how to stay mentally healthy in health we call these stratergies.

Social Studies.

In social studies this term we have been learning about human rights and slave trading. We learned about what they are and how they can be taken away. Human right can be taken away when they aren't shown to people and they don't get them. People fight for their human rights by standing up and stopping people who aren't showing them to people.

The apps we have used are Padlet and Coggle they are different and make a great way to present things. My personal experience was good I was the leader of our group so I made the calls but I also was the coder. Rosa made the Padlet and coggle and Nivvy and Casey did next to nothing. Our teamwork was more half teamwork because only half our team did work me and rosa did the work while Casey and Nivvy sat around and pretended to help.

Draft 1

I wake up to the sound of my dog echo barking. “Well I survived another night in this wasteland” I think to myself. Echo jumps onto my lap and starts to bark. “Fine I’ll feed you” Echo jumps onto the ground and goes out side. I grab her food and go outside. Echo is not there I call to her a couple of times but she doesn’t come. It's not like her to ignore food so I go investigate but before i know it i’m falling through a black void. The ground comes faster than expected but it didn’t hurt but there's echo peeing on a tree I look at her then she starts to bark and run into an open field. I run after her when i catch up echo is sniffing another dog  it is black with a white stripe down its face. I walk out to get echo but I see a girl standing there she seems scared so I raise my arms and move towards her she looks innocent. I ask her “where am I?”

she replied by saying “You are on my farm trespassing so state your business or get lost”

I apologise. “It is fine” she replies “but who are you?”

I tell her that “I am logan this is my dog Echo and I came  from a world where a massive disaster took place and that I fell through a hole and landed here. She was a bit curious at first but I think she believes it. “Who are you I ask” “Mary Kimberly Rice and this is my dog Tiny “ she replies. We go back to her house to find and smoking pile of ash. I try to tell her who did this but I don’t think she heard me. “ This has to the work of the slimy son of a weasel David” “What are you babbling on about?” she asks me. “I know who did this” “WELL LET'S GO KILL HIM!!!!! She screams angrily. “Ok... are you sure?” “Deadly” she replies “When do we leave?” She asks. “Now?” I reply.  How do we get there? I don’t know I reply How about we check where I fell out of. We walk to roughly were i fell out of. Our dogs are acting like their best friends or something. Well here it is. Lets go Mary says hesitantly. Stop are you sure that you want to do this it could be dangerous?

I have nothing to go back to. Ok let's go then we jump in with the dogs following close behind us. It doesn’t take too long to arrive but Mary takes a little longer but it is her first time. We land on a island in space and time. We start to look around a  big cloud of dust appears for like two seconds as the cloud goes away a figure appears he is a normal looking man in a suit holding a briefcase. The dogs start barking crazily. YOU PILE OF POO. Mary screams and she starts to run at him. I have to grab her to stop her from getting killed.  Let me kill him she screams. “Oh yes please just made it quik and let me have some last words here are some I prepared earlier” the man says with a stupid smirk on his face pulling a sheet of paper out of his pocket. I stand there out of shock. The man starts laughing hysterically. When he was distracted Mary walked up and punched him right in the jaw. He gets knocked back YOU WILL PAY FOR THAT he wails. He snps open his briefcase and pulls out a nickel plated colt 1911 and points it at Mary Be careful with that you could kill someone. That's the general ideas the man says. While this was happening I walk up behind him point a desert eagle to his head and ask would you like to volunteer. So how about those last words? You wouldn’t dare! I live in a apocalypse try me. So I pull the trigger. David falls to the ground and evaporates. Out of the dust a ghostly figure fly out and says Thank you for freeing me now can finally reunite with my true love I’M COMING KARMA!!! And she flys away.The island starts to fall apart and another hole opens up we jump in before there is nothing left to jump of. We arrive back in Mary's dimension. “Sorry you couldn’t get back to your dimension”

“That's ok i like it here anyway”

Over the next month we rebuild Mary's farm to its former glory. With my apocalyptic life behind me we lived happily ever after with Tiny's and Echos puppies until we died.

Satay chicken stir-fry

Recipe

Satay chicken noodle stir-fry

Serves: 4
Time to make: 15 mins
Total cost: $18.40 / $4.60 per serve

Full ingredients list: 

• 2 teaspoons peanut oil
• 600g skinless chicken breast fillets, cut in strips
• 4 cups mixed vegetables, suitable for stir-frying, or frozen stir-fry vegetables
• 400g fresh hokkien noodles
• 3 tablespoons reduced-fat peanut butter
• 1/3 cup sweet chilli sauce
• 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

Instructions and steps: 

Step 1 Heat half the oil in a wok over a high heat. Add chicken and stir-fry for 5-6 minutes. Transfer to a plate. Add remaining oil to wok, and stir-fry vegetables for 5-6 minutes.

Step 2 Cook noodles following packet directions. Set aside. Return chicken to wok. Add noodles. Toss to combine and stir-fry for 3
minutes or until vegetables are almost tender.

Step 3 In a bowl, mix peanut butter, chilli sauce and water. Add to wok. Stir to combine. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Divide among 4 bowls
to serve.

Variations

Make it gluten free: Use rice noodles instead of hokkien noodles, and use gluten-free sweet chilli sauce.

Cooking method used yesterday was stir-frying 

This means the pan is on a high heat and the veggies are cooked for a short period of time.

We know the chicken is cooked when its white and the colour of the juice and the internal temp is over 70

The nutrients we got from the practical yesterday were carbohydrates, vitamins and protein.
